Greeting the Sun
They say it takes 9 years to learn to pray. Im no pro, by any means but I wanted to share some how-to’s of really embodying the gratitude I feel.
Each thought is a prayer, each word is a prayer, be impeccable with your words, they hold huge power. Ive found that gratitude and surrender to the great mother in my darkest times, is what helped set me free from the self created prison that was holding me captive from my true North. When we pray to whomever we choose pray to, we nurture that relationship, we create a sacred reciprocity and guardianship. We become more and more supported by spirt as we practice.
When I pray, I pray slowly, remembering who I am(consciousness), breathing, remembering my connection to whom Im praying, really feeling the gratitude i’m expressing, feeling the vastness of spirit, recognizing the silence within the space as being held in the arms of my guardians. If tears come, you’re doing it right.
Greeting the Sun, Morning Gratitude Practice.
Fill a clear glass of water and face the sun, I highly recommend going outside with your feet directly on the earth if you can. If you must be indoors, this can be through a window.
Hold the glass up to the sun and greet it with gratitude and a prayer, out loud or silent.
Thank the sun, the creator, Mother Earth, the wind, the four directions, sprits of the lands, your ancestors. Whomever or whatever feels right. Thank them for your life, your body, your loved ones, the lives of all of your relations- anything you are grateful for
Pour some water from the glass into the earth, feeding her water blessed by yourself and the sun.
Hold the glass back up to the sun, offering the sun the blessed water
Then bless yourself, drink the water.
Stand with your empty cup in gratitude, in stillness and just observe. Notice the space around and inside of you. Feel the connection under your feet.
